The REVEREND MICHAEL H. CLARK, JR.

Reverend Michael Clark, Jr., a native of Baltimore, Maryland, is an honors graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Norfolk State University in Norfolk, VA, where he was enrolled in the DNIMAS program, an honors science and math scholarship program. He furthered his education by earning a Master’s of Divinity Degree from the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia. He currently serves as a science teacher for Broward County Public Schools, where he can combine his training in science with his passion for empowering young people. In 2014, he was nominated by Parkway Middle School to be Teacher of the Year.

 

Reverend Clark received the Lord as his personal savior on November 1, 1998. He received his calling to ministry while a member of Mt. Calvary A.M.E. church, where the Reverend Dr. Ann Lightner-Fuller served as pastor. While a student in Norfolk, he sat under the watch care of Pastor Kirk T. Houston Sr. at the Gethsemane Community Fellowship Baptist Church.

 

In Norfolk, Reverend Clark was very diligent in ministry. He was a two term President of the Baptist Student Union. He was also an executive member of Campus Ministries United, and a member of the Wesley-Westminster Campus Ministry. In addition, he was the assistant college ministry coordinator at Gethsemane Community Fellowship Baptist Church, as well as a Sunday school teacher, media technician, and altar counselor. While a student in seminary, he served as the youth pastor at the historic Third Street Bethel A.M.E. Church. There he placed special emphasis on the mentorship of young men.

 

In September 2007, Reverend Clark began serving as the Youth and Young Adults Pastor at Mount Hermon AME Church, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. While there he worked hard to prepare a future generation of leaders by establishing a Youth Council, holding various Youth Conferences, Summits, and retreats. He also established several ministries including the RHEMA rap ministry and Faith in Action step ministry.

 

In January 2011, Reverend Clark began serving as the Youth & Young Adults Pastor of St. Paul AME Church in Liberty City, FL. During that time, Reverend Clark was diligent in establishing opportunities for youth and young adults to grow in their relationship with the Lord, and to empower them to be leaders in their community.

 

On January 1, 2017, Reverend Clark began serving as the Senior Pastor of the Metropolitan AME Church in Miami, Florida. During his tenure there, he worked to help Metropolitan become the “City on the Hill that cannot be hidden.” He endeavored to help Metropolitan show the love of God by providing space and opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to experience the life changing power of Christ.

 

On November 22, 2019, Reverend Clark was appointed to be the senior of the Historic Saint John AME Church in South Miami, Florida where he continues the work of honoring the church’s legacy, while building for the future.

 

Reverend Michael Clark, Jr. loves the Lord, and confesses knowledge that God is working all things together for the good of those that love the Lord. Reverend Clark takes the commission to share the Gospel seriously and believes that being on “Soul Patrol” is a way of life for all Christians.
